VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Journeys from PADS to HOPE Committee Structure
Mission Statement: to assist individuals and families who are homeless and at risk of becoming homeless, and to study and address the underlying causes of homelessness.
Position: A member of one of Journeys committees is an individual who has a commitment to their community and a desire to share their time and talents with the agency in carrying out our mission to assist the homeless and those at risk of homelessness.
FINANCE COMMITTEE
Chair: Agency Treasurer
Responsibilities of Chair:
- Preside at meetings
- Provide minutes and reports to the Board
- Present to the Board for approval the names and short biographies of initial and subsequent
Staff Liaison: Executive Director
Responsibilities of the Committee:
- Primary responsibility is to ensure that the agency has adequate resources
- Oversee development of annual budget and recommend for Board approval
- Review and recommend for Board approval all contracts, leases, and long term commitments
- Work closely with the Development Committee to plan fund-raising strategies

DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
Chair: Agency Board Member (preferred)
Responsibilities of Chair:
- Preside at meetings
- Provide minutes and reports to the Board
- Present to the Board for approval the names and short biographies of initial and subsequent committee members.
Staff Liaison: Director of Development
Responsibilities of the Committee:
- Active solicitation of funds
- Corporate/Foundation grooming/sponsorship
- Fundraising/event planning and execution

COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
Chair: Agency Board Member (preferred)

- Preside at meetings

Responsibilities of the Committee:
- Newsletters, bulletins, and press releases
- Media production
- Speakers Bureau
