Sherry Finds Hope
Individuals who are experiencing situational problems tend to need less intervention and are with our program for short periods of time, as was the case with Sherry. She entered our program in November of 2006 and stayed with our agency for about a month. Her presenting problems were situational and little intervention was needed.
Sherry use to reside in Lake County with her father, but had a falling out with him. Now, she was homeless and sleeping in her vehicle. Sherry was employed full-time and earning a living wage. Her goal was to only stay in PADS for a few weeks while she searched for affordable housing.
HOPE Center staff gave Sherry information on an agency that offers short-term housing. Sherry followed through with the housing referral and after three interviews, was told that she qualified for the program. Fortunately, there was an immediate opening and Sherry was able to move in the following week.
