Journeys seeks new Development Director
Job Requirement:
A minimum of three years in the Development field, degree in Fund Raising or a comparable field, preferably having some knowledge in social service provision and experience in managing a department. Knowledge of Microsoft Access and ResultsPlus donor database a plus.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with the Executive Director to create development strategic plans, measures of success, and fundraising goals.
Increasing individual and corporate giving by:
- Design and manage cultivation and volunteer programs for individuals such as young professionals, and other community members, and Women’s Auxiliary Board,
- Assist fundraising events as the staff liaison between the development committee and the event committee by offering direction and resources when needed,
- Develop and execute donor strategy,
- Assist board and development committee to create corporate partnerships, and,
- Assist board and development committee in successful fund-raising initiatives.
Producing high-quality and effective written communication for funders at all stages of the development process. Key activities will include:
- Draft compelling letters that communicate agency’s vision, mission, and strategic priorities,
- Develop plans based on prospects’ interests and crafting well-conceived proposals for foundation and corporate prospects,
- Write update letters to further communicate programmatic goals and mission, and increase funders interest in the organization,
- Coordinate and facilitate grant reports specific to grant requirements and needs of funders,
- Assist communications committee in developing marketing materials such as regional overviews and annual reports, and,
- Assist communications committee and Executive Director to write public relations materials such as press releases.
Continually building knowledge base of current and potential supporters in the regional funding community by:
- Identify and contact new funders, including pro bono sources,
- Research, gather and organize web and print-based background information and articles on current and new contacts,
- Collaborate with the development committee of the board,
- Prepare agendas and materials for and participate in board meetings as appropriate, funder meetings, special events and presentations, and coordinate follow-up, including ongoing cultivation,
- Coordinate the production and management of the year-long development calendar, which outlines dates o which update reports, proposals, newsletters, update letters and follow-up correspondence are sent to funders and community contacts as well as dates of cultivation events and meetings,
- Manage and enhance user capabilities of all donor database and auction software, and,
- Supervise all Development Staff in an effective manner in accomplishing all goals and objectives.
